wow, i just realised that i haven't written anything forever. well 3 weeks actually. i have still been iconing (although obviously christmas is taking up a lot of time for everyone at the moment) anyway,
i have just been working and 'chillin' by that i mean not doing much of anything. i have finished sanctuary and am a massive fan, although i am still waiting for Will to grow on me. maybe with season 2? and besides druitt and tesla make for an awesomeness overload. helen magnus is one lucky woman. i may even watch 'new moon' (oh bella, oh edward, oh bella...) to see Christopher Heyerdahl. I went back and watched the Stargate Episodes her was in :D
Also found a new community atapping_lims which i shall henceforth pimp to get myself and extra skip. I have never done a lims challenge before so should be interesting. besides how could anything with Amanda Tapping's gorgeous face be bad. So join. You know you want to.

not much else. I have to go wrap presents now. I will post a Christmas post in the next 2 days, hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!!!! Have so icon textures i want to post so i might do that while i am in a computerish mood. xoxo

something completely different. i saw a competition on deviant art and it opened up a completely new idea to me - photomanipulation. i have never really tried this much past fanart, but i figured i had the basic skills and could give it a go. after a failed attempt i found a competition for 'greek goddesses' and did this piece of 'selene' moon goddess. it was a lot of fun. and my icons this week have been pretty mediocre. now exams are all over i can get back to my place in balnarring. usually during semester i live with my grandmother in an attic room (a very nice attic room with a bathroom, attic room sounds, well, dodgy) which is about a 10 minute walk from Uni. its a great arrangement as it is practically rent free and i have found i have a much better relationship with my parents when i don't have to see them every day.

so now as i move back home, i am already sick and tired of home life. i have three brothers, mum and dad all live in a small house, so there is zero privacy and for some reason mum and dad feel like a 'real family' consists of them making unwanted comments about my activities, trying to control my day and if thats impossible have a minute to minute recount of anything i could have possibly 'got up to'.

while i have moved past the need for them to 'parent' me (at the tender age of 22 i might add) they don't seem to grasp that being away from them for 9 months of the year for the last 3 years, they can't just pick up where they were when i was 15. I don't need lectures about drinking, shopping, driving, sex (although we dont talk about sex, its all eupherisms and boys have cooties).

so anyway, my mother was off work today. i have been sorting through stuff with constant commentry, with her checking up on me every half hour and i am about to go CRAZY! She thought about removing my computer so i could concentrate. I thought about braining her with the expanding file of paperwork i am sorting.

so thats my rant. i feel better. she's not home tomorrow and its going to be hot enough for me to go to the beach *squee*
truth is my mother is stuck in a past where she felt she was a useful mother, and now feels trapped in a job she doesn't like, and kids who don't need control or discipline now they are all grown up. she is incapable of giving any part of herself to anyone, even in a simple conversation you will get more of an interrogation. and while i sympathise especially as we kids start to take on opportunities she never had, all she has done is succeeded in alienating everyone around her.

i guess i can only hope she develops a better relationship with herself so she can start to redevelop a relationship with me. or i'll just go to the beach...

I love icontests. Really do.

I know some people enter icon contests for the glory and I am honestly not one of those people, i like having a direction for my mind to head in and icontests are perfect for that, and its great to get come feedback on my work. I'm not one of those people who has to win (having three brothers beat that out of me pretty quickly). But then these little geniuses called banner makers go an create these wonderful things just for ME and it makes me all excited again. and soon its the next week and i am photoshopping away in my little heaven. lifes great! and its a great way to make friends. (untapdtreasure I'm talking about you!)

oh god. i did it again. joined more icon challenges, during exam time no less. but who could resist the lure of carter_stills and stargate_stills hey? not me. i am weak.

so that makes my to do list for challenges extra long

goreneamesstill is done for the week

alexeames_still b&w challenge - entered 4 icons, maybe make a 5th but god knows when :)

tww_iconathon havent even started, sigh. manchester part II challenge, love this episode, and love how CJ stands up to the president, its such a great moment when he asks her to stay. i always think the guys are mean to CJ, except maybe josh, because i love josh

bones_stills is all done, but i am not sure how much i like them, sigh

stargate_rumble is still a work in progress, but i should have a finished icon soon. i am finding its harder to enter 1 icon than several beause i feel i have to make it perfect.

so now adding carter_stills and stargate_stillsto the list. lets see how this pans out :D

also have a couple of wallpapers for stargate that i am finishing, should get them up asap. oh and study... maybe i should do that

had a crazy day, been tryng to get my damn resource post to work, it looks like shit, LJ had some serious trouble processing A TABLE - its really not that hard. so had to break it down into itsy bitsy tables that livejournal could handle. sgh. but its up, and it wasn't really fair to all the wonderful resource artsts out there not to put my credits up. anyway, unloading some stuff today, i am at my home home where we have finally got broadband, so i am getting some graphics stuff out there before i go back to uni.

also did some editing of my LJ layout, it was too skinny and so graphics stuff was overflowing. also my least favorite thing about flexible squares in how the first three lines of text are pushed across to make way for the icon, so i have relocated my icons to the right, only now i keep looking for them and forgetting where they are.

this is a photo a friend of mine took on the way back from a holiday a few years ago. i played around and took the background out, and used some different effects and colors. it never ceases to amaze me how many things you can do with one picture. anyway

going to do some real work now. smile

The formatting is skewed, but ths is the 3rd attempt at posting this, and this is as good as it is going to get. fingers crossed :D

RESOURCE POST

while I have only recently emerged from the dark age of graphics into the light of the lj day, i have in fact been collecting resources for a long time. This is my comprehensive resource list as of October 09, I have broken it down into icon textures, large textures (because i struggled to find these for a while and if this list helps anyone then that's great too) and brushes. I haven't used all of these yet, but when I do, I don't want anyone forgotten, also the resources here are so amazing anyway they deserve as much credit as possible. Also I use corel photopaint and not photoshop so I use brushes less than most and use them more as inserted objects than brushes anyway.

wanted to pimp my new community stargate_rumblei am a little late on this one, round 1 is already underway. however looks like its going to be heaps of fun, and with only 1 icon a week (for 10 weeks) it isnt going to be too much of problem to keep up with. oh and this way i get to show off my pretty banner

I had a go at learning some HTML over the weekend, and i am getting closer to being able to understand this layouting business. when i say getting closer, last week I knew nothing and now i have a layout, its pretty much done (i think ill still change some stuff), but i worked from instructions and the template. i am hoping next time to do it slightly more independently. but still fun. and i got to make a header image for it which is a great excuse for graphics! yay! so now i can celebrate my NEW LAYOUT credit where credits due - i used a help guide
for the stuff didnt understand made by irinafan and used as my base the code from lilbreck layout butterfly but i wrotes it myself

got my cousins birthday tonight, which is an excuse for my family to spend too much time together. cant figure out how i seem to be the only person who realises a three-hour cut off for these events would go a long way to keeping the piece. that said, the adults can fight amongst themselves, have two beautiful cousins, Thomas and Christine, and they are still young enough to think i am cool. however thomas is getting too bg for me to throw over my shoulder.

Also, i have discovered the joys of stillness contests, i love graphics and this gives me an opportunity to actually have a goal in mind when i start. i am a member of goreneamesstill tww_iconathon and have just joined bones_stills so i am getting my moneys worth (figuratively as my journal is a basic accout) anyway, i have done pretty ok, and i get bannersss which makes me happy. check under the cut

so all is going well, got to do some real work now.

having a bit of a L&O CI day, must be from the icons have been working on for goreneamesstill love this quote from eames, just watched 'the third horseman' episode from season one again, this is one of the first episodes where alex really asserts herself with a point of view that is not 'gorens partner' (whch was really annoying me for a while. i <3 alex eames, and i hate it when she just plays bobby gorens keeper). so in the spirit of alex love it made a piccy *smiles*

just me playing around with corel, thought it was a good way to define my fandom lovin. That sad apparently alex/bobby - my latest fandom aquisition, is about to fall apart. L&O CI is letting go both kathryn erbe and vincent d'onofrio. sob. and i just started watching this last month. however stargate universe and a third stargate sg1 movie are in the works, and mariska hargitay and chris meloni from svu have had their contracts renewed so the future is not all bleak.

As part of the twwiconathon (which is just too much fun) i have been rewatching the episodes of west wing and revisiting my love affair with cj and danny. sigh. I still havent got my hands on season 7 but knowing that they end up happily ever after makes me a very happy girl!
think thats me for today. hoping to get my resource post up soon, but its taking me a while. :)

end of the week, and i have a week off for mid semester break! yay! more interestingly i entered my first two icontests which i am very excited about. i am notoriously bad for finding inspiration for my graphics, and these communities let me be lazy and they do all the thinking. if interested check out tww_iconathon and goreneamesstill. law and order CI is a new fandom for me but i watched the 1st season and well in love wth alex eames! also used up my last userpic slot wth a new icon of CJ (another love affair of mine, as strong women in the media are hard to come by). i put it up as my pic on this post, but i cant bear to part with amanda so she will remain my default (as amanda tapping is bee-u-ti-ful and come on isnt it worth watching stargate just for a fix of RDA, ergo stargate really has a lot going for it)
